Lunch: 12:30  PM
Program II: 1:30 to 3:00 PM

Miami Shore Country Club

Florida Grand Opera Managing Director for Marketing and Communication Justin Moss, whose entertaining and informative opera previews have become a Florida Grand Opera tradition enjoyed by thousands, leads the program.

The morning session will provide an opportunity to see and hear excerpts from Giacomo Puccini's THE GIRL OF THE GOLDEN WEST (La fanciulla del West) as Justin Moss offers an overview of one of his favorite operas.  The world premiere in 1910 at the Metropolitan Opera with Enrico Caruso singing Dick Johnson, and Toscanini conducting, was one of the greatest triumphs in the history of the MET.

After a delectable lunch, you'll encounter Gaetano Donizetti's delightful THE DAUGHTER OF THE REGIMENT (La fille du régiment), one of the most successful operatic comedies ever composed.  Our protagonist, Marie, and her friends are so charming, it's easy to understand why so many leading sopranos have found it one of their favorite roles; and Tonio's famous aria, "Ah mes amis" with nine high C's, has long been a favorite of tenors with nerves of steel.

Florida Grand Opera last presented THE GIRL OF THE GOLDEN WEST and THE DAUGHTER OF THE REGIMENT in 1977 and 1973, respectively.  Be sure to take this opportunity to re-acquaint yourself with these two charming operas (and ladies) from FGO's 2005-2006 Season!

Cost: $65 ($40 tax-deductible)
For reservations, phone Rosa-Rita Gonzalez: 305-932-4692.  Seating is limited, be sure to make your reservations NOW.
